Black Girl Sunscreen
Founded by Shontay Lundy, Black Girl Sunscreen(BGS) is a well-known skincare brand that produces sunscreen products tailored to people of color for all ages and gender. Their sunscreens range from SPF 30 - SPF 50; other products include sunscreen sprays and lipgloss.
I stan this brand for many reasons, other than the fact that it’s black-owned and caters to people of color. Before stumbling upon BGS, finding a sunscreen that didn't leave my dark skin looking ghostly was nearly impossible. No matter how many layers you apply, BGS does not leave a white cast after rubbing it into your skin. The cream is highly moisturizing, it works well on my oily skin, and I've heard good reviews from people with dry skin as well. The SPF 30 moisturizer does leave your skin looking oily, so if you’re not a fan of the dewy look, they also have a matte sunscreen that is SPF 45. Since I go outside much, I use the SPF 30 for my everyday usage and SPF 45 when I know I will be outside for a long period of time. I am looking forward to trying out their ‘Make it Glow” SPF 30 spray once the heat of summer starts rolling in. An amazing tidbit I learned about the company recently is that it takes environmentally conscious steps through its recycling program.
